On this 2nd anniversary of the start of the COVID pandemic and with a war in Ukraine, and all of our own personal life experiences, we’ve all really been through it – up, down and sideways. I sincerely hope that these world and personal events have woken us up on how we can be better humans from now on.
The Dalai Lama said, “The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kinds” and today I’d like to add songwriters, musicians and singers to the list of who makes the world a better place for us all.
There’s something about music that comforts the soul and we all understand the language of music no matter what other languages we speak.
Singing songs go hand in hand with peace and to me, peace is living without fear.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if all 7.9 Billion of us were all part of the same choir and orchestra, playing beautiful music together and living in a peaceful world?
I’ve put together a list of songs about peace for us to sing:
- Get Along by Kenny Chesney
- We Are Here by Alicia Keys
- Imagine by John Lennon
- Russians (Unplugged Live) by Sting
- Woodstock by Joni Mitchell
- Lean on Me by Bill Withers, sung by ArtistsCAN
- Over The Rainbow & What A Wonderful World Medley, sung by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole
- From A Distance by Bette Midler
- We Are the World sung by U.S.A. For Africa
- One Love by Bob Marley
Have a listen to this playlist and sing along. The lyrics are very powerful! By the way, “Chesney” means “honest & earnest” in Ukrainian.
Let me know your faves. Which songs would you add to the list? Let’s play them loud and sing our hearts out and bring peace to this world in our lifetime!
And if you have a song in your own heart that you’d like to write and sing, let’s talk.
My new creative writing coaching program is starting on Monday and if you’re ready to turn up the volume on your own voice, there’s a seat with your name on it!
