I first noticed it in my early twenties — how the books we’re reading and writing can magically mirror our real life.
I was in France reading Still Life with Woodpecker (1980) by Tom Robbins when the themes I was absorbing from the pages began showing up in my world… in ways so specific and unexpected, I could hardly believe it.
The novel tells the love story between an environmentalist princess and an outlaw, weaving together aliens, redheads, consumerism, bombs, romance, royalty, the Moon, and even a pack of Camel cigarettes.
And then I actually met a redhead from Norway who diffused bombs and land mines for a living. We also went to see Free Willy together in the theatre.
It felt as if my outer world was talking to my inner one.
I’ve come to recognize those moments as synchronicities — confirmations that the story we’re living is in conversation with the story we’re telling. And these connect-the-dots moments never get old.
This morning, I stumbled into yet another one.
In Part One of my own book, Closer to Indigo, Maria Ponomarenko visits a Spiritual & Psychic Fair in Sidney, British Columbia after a stressful shift at work. She wanders in searching for answers… and ends up receiving a face reading.
Fast forward to today. Life has a beautiful way of completing its circles. Sometimes we attend something as a student only to return as the teacher. This time the tables have turned.
I’m happy to say I’ve just booked an 8-foot table at that very same Spiritual & Psychic Fair at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney.
On March 21, 2026, I’ll be offering my Crystal Mapping Sessions, Chakra Mapping Sessions, and Emotions Mapping Sessions — along with crystal prosperity bracelets and copies of Closer to Indigo.

I’m still marvelling at this plot twist. I wasn’t thinking about this at all yesterday when I booked the table.
