Spring is about to spring! After months of resting in the dark and cold of winter, it feels good to wake up, stretch and step outside again.
I like how Mother Nature’s colour palette shifts from cool blues, dark greens, rich browns, and bright whites in the winter to rosy pinks, cheery yellows, creamy lavenders, and emerald greens in the springtime. It’s also fun to watch the birds, bunnies, and deer explore the neighbourhood as if everything is fresh and new.
And it is new, in a sense – Spring is the season that re-animates life and invites us to start again. It’s like breakfast, the first taste of what’s to come and it’s about noticing what has changed, wondering what’s possible next and exploring fresh paths.
Spring also gives us the chance to be curious, to venture into new territory with interest and an open mind – and being curious is fundamental to living a wonderful life.
I also think curiosity is the antidote to apathy. It’s also the antidote to anxiety about the future. I know we’re living in uncertain times but if you remember to feel curious rather than fearful, it will make a big difference. Sometimes all it takes is a small shift in focus and observing something new to get you feeling better and up and running again.
But even with Spring coming, not everyone will feel the fever. If you’re still feeling stuck in life and are having trouble getting out of bed and are not feeling a spark of curiosity, it’s time to have a little heart-to-heart with yourself.
Ask yourself, “What am I curious about right now? What interests me? What do I like to talk about the most? What makes me pause and wonder?” – the answers you give are all clues and I invite you to explore your top answer right now!
