Leonardo da Vinci, Frida Kahlo, Marie Curie, Anne Frank, Mark Twain, Lewis Carroll, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Anaïs Nin, Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, and Lady Gaga – what do these 12 people have in common?

They’ve all kept journals, diaries and/or sketchbooks!

Are you in this club, too? Do you write in a journal? Have you written anything yet this year?

I have journaled on and off for decades, starting with writing 1-2 sentences a day in pencil and then drawing a little picture to accompany my stories on grey newspaper sheets when I was 8 in Miss Kirby’s grade 3 class – which come to think of it, set me up wonderfully for the social media posts I write today!

Since then, I’ve filled many pages in my illegible lefty handwriting, documenting the adventures of my life. I sincerely feel that writing in my journal has helped me be a better writer and has helped me write my novel, Closer to Indigo.

But I haven’t written much lately, so after some time off from journaling, I’ve decided to pick up my pen again and write to my heart’s content in a safe space where I can express my ideas, do some healing work and manifest some new things into my life, too.

I’m also putting journaling front and center in my coaching business as a way to encourage my clients to stay in the flow of writing as they’re working on their own creative projects.

To get the ballpoint rolling, I’ll be posting journal prompts often and since it’s the start of a new year, I thought it would be fun to suggest this topic: Write your future story so you can step into now…

Imagine you’ve just had the most incredibly magical year and we’ve just bumped into each other in a coffee shop. What would you tell me? Describe your life in the present tense, in first person.

Make sure you use words with high energy and that make you feel good and that your story covers all the basis: Health & Fitness, Wealth & Career, Love & Relationships, Spirituality & Intuition, Creativity & Writing, Travel & Fun.

Let your story be your road map of what you want to create this year!

And for those of you who want to take journaling to the next level and boldy put your thoughts, feelings and words out there for others to read, I have a group coaching program starting next week called, HOT OFF THE PRESS SOCIAL MEDIA POSTING which is all about finding your authentic voice, expressing yourself and creating content that connects you with your people.

Sound good? Wonderful. Message me if you’re interested. Let’s start off 2023 on a good note!
