How are you enjoying your October so far?
October is the 10th month of the year and is therefore associated with the number 10 (even though octo is the Latin word for “eight”). Ten vibrates with the energies of leadership, optimism, confidence, independence, creative powers, success, originality, adaptability, determination and individuality.
October has 31 days and its main zodiac sign is Libra. Libra is an Air sign and that means Libras are intellectual and communicative. They may also have their head in the clouds but that’s OK because their symbol is a scale, which keeps everything balanced.
October’s birthflowers are Marigolds and Cosmos and its birthstones are Opal and Tourmaline.
OPAL: assists in balancing mood swings and can help inspire trust in intuition. It’s available in many colors like blue, white, pink and yellow and ranges from opaque to transparent depending on the grade. There are 19 kinds of Opals including Fire, Boulder and Matrix. Opal is found in Australia, Canada and Mexico.
ETHIOPIAN OPAL: I like saying “Ethiopian Opal” out loud. Just try it. See, it’s fun. It reflects the beautiful parts of our soul and is a crystal filled with revitalizing energy and bright flashes of color. It’s a high-vibration stone and is full of joy. It’s able to bring harmony to mind, body and spirit.
TOURMALINE: promotes compassion, empathy and sympathy. It’s also very protective and grounding. It’s an opaque to translucent crystal that can be black, blue, green, pink, purple or yellow. There’s also a Watermelon Tourmaline that’s pink and green. Tourmaline is found in Brazil and India.
PURPLE TOURMALINE: I first came across Tourmaline when I was studying esthetics at the Aveda Institute and we had a big, purple rock on display in our spa. Aveda uses Tourmaline in some of their skin care products to boost radiance and Tourmaline also has the ability to warm up when massaged into skin.
I love talking about crystals and I even feature them in my novel, Closer to Indigo.
How about you? Do you like crystals and astrology?
If yes, I offer Crystal Mapping Sessions which are heart-to-heart conversations that help people figure out where they are now and where they’d like to go next using the wisdom of crystals, so if you know anyone born in October, Crystal Mapping Sessions and my novel Closer to Indigo make great gifts!
Send me a message and let’s talk! Maria
